Besides being a military facility, the fortress was also used as a prison.

The Visitor Center is located inside the fortress and is an Info point and museum since it exhibits the battle for Fort Pulaski, which occurred in April 1862.

Visitors can see the inner and outer parts of the fortress every day, from 9:00 AM till 5:00 PM, and learn more about Fort Pulaski through Ranger-led tours.

Tybee Beach Pier and Pavilion

Last but not least, Tybee Beach Pier and Pavilion, a covered pavilion with restrooms and an attractive fishing pier where you can enjoy the sea and fishing. A perfect place for rest and outdoor activities.
